Rev. Michael Beynon, Interim Pastor
I feel especially blessed to be called to be your interim minister. I’m Mike Beynon. My ministry in the Penn Central Conference is called Intentional Interim Ministry. I specialize in the time between the leaving of a settled minister and the call of the next settled pastor. I’m trained by The Interim Ministry Network, Baltimore, Maryland. Shiloh UCC, York is my eighth interim pastorate. My last congregation was Saint John’s UCC in Kutztown, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Saint John’s is a congregation in the East Berks Association of the Southeast Pennsylvania Conference.
I was ordained in 1975 while serving Deerfield Community (UCC) Church, Deerfield, New Hampshire. Since then, I’ve served in 14 positions: 8 permanent parish calls, one city hospital chaplaincy, and seven interim ministry positions, one of which was in the Presbyterian Church USA. Additionally, during the summer of 2006, I served in the Lower Susquehanna Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America denomination as a supply pastor in four congregations. I was educated in public schools in Swansea, Massachusetts, 1956-1968, and three institutions of higher education which granted me three degrees: Associates in Electrical Engineering, Wentworth Institute, Boston, MA, 1970; BA in Psychology and Religion, The College of Wooster, Wooster, OH, 1972; Master of Divinity, Andover Newton Theological School, Newton Centre, MA, 1975.
I am the husband of the Rev. Norma Llewellyn, who is the Chaplain Manager and Director of Spiritual Life Services at Ecumenical Retirement Community, a 309-bed, only non-profit campus under the umbrella of the Country Meadows Company. The campus serves Independent Living and Assisted Living residents, with a 30-bed secured unit for residents with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. It is located in Harrisburg. I am blessed with a blended family of two stepchildren, James and Tammy, one-step grandson, Joseph, and one son, Nathaniel. Our two girls, Zoe, our Labrador Retriever and Willow, our Treeing Walker Coonhound rescue girl, allow us to live with them!
I look forward to serving Shiloh UCC in York and meeting and getting to know your vibrant community of faith. May you be blessed with both the mystery and reality of God’s boundless love in Christ Jesus. Amen.
