Our Daily Soup Kitchen

The Soup Kitchen Crew are looking for volunteers to prepare spaghetti and serve lunch one day a month at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen in downtown York. Shiloh UCC is one of many local churches that support Our Daily Bread by supplying and serving food to those in need. Volunteers are needed to serve lunch on the third Thursday of the month, and we prepare spaghetti the day before. If you would like to help or want more information, please contact Cheryl Hershey at 717-891-6440.
Our Daily Bread was established in 1983 by the nine Catholic Churches of York County, in cooperation with the local Catholic Charities. Now some 63 churches and civic groups have been recruited to participate in supplying and serving hot casseroles of food and cleaning up after the meals have been served to those in need without any eligibility requirements.
Once a month several volunteers from Shiloh UCC prepare the food, and on the following day they provide volunteers to serve and prepare meals at Our Daily Bread Soup Kitchen. All ingredients are purchased by the church. Church members also share Christmas cookies with the soup kitchen on an annual basis.
